Mission Statement

The mission of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, Division of Resource Management and Protection is to protect the natural resources of the Tribe, and to guide management of these resources in a manner that is consistent with Apache cultural values, and which will ensure that present and future generations thrive. This is to be accomplished through maintaining a balance between protecting the environment, pursuing economic development, and educating the Tribal membership. With each effort in development, comes a resulting incremental need for educating the Tribal membership and protecting the environment. Furthermore, as population increases and the size of reservation lands remain the same, there will be a need to employ greater levels of technology to maintain a safe and healthful environment.
